From the Workshop
We partner with Tanqing Yaoyi, a workshop
in Yixing, China that carries the legacy of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Their artisans bring together generations of ceramic knowledge with a complete design and production floor—shaping each piece with hands that understand the clay, and firing with a patience that only time can teach.
Leaf & Kiln — Our Story
After the rain, when the clouds break and the sky clears—this is the color to be made
A thousand years ago, an emperor saw the sky break open after a storm and asked his potters for the impossible: to hold that color in clay. What emerged was celadon—a ceramic so thin it answers light, so quiet it seems to hold its own breath. The glaze carries the exact moment between storm and sky, a shade that deepens and shifts as the years pass.
Today, that same sky-blue lives on.
We are Leaf & Kiln — a team drawn to the quiet blue of celadon and the slow ritual of Chinese tea. In partnership with workshops that carry the legacy of Intangible Cultural Heritage, we bring the finest pieces from the kiln to your hands.
The pieces we bring you carry the lineage of the craft: walls thin enough to let light pass through, a living crackle that deepens with use, and the quiet presence of a material that improves with time. Whether placed in contemplation, lifted each morning for tea or coffee,or given to someone who understands that beauty is a form of care—they are made to be lived with.
It is not merely a vessel. It is a piece of sky, held in clay, waiting for your hands. From our kiln to your home.
